Biography

Cornelis (Kees, for short) Storm received his Ph.D. from Leiden University in 2001, for research on topics in nonlinear dynamics conducted under the supervision of prof. Wim van Saarloos. He then began working in statistical biophysics, and went on to a postdoctoral position at the University of Pennsylvania, working with profs. Philip Nelson, Tom Lubensky and Paul Janmey on the statistical physics of biological polymers and materials composed thereof. During a second postdoctoral appointment, at the Institut-Curie in Paris, he worked with prof. Jean-Francois Joanny on the properties of biological membranes. He then returned to Leiden, where he continued to expand the efforts in nonlinear elasticity and membrane physics. Today, he is an assistant professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology where is jointly appointed in the Theoretical and Polymer Physics group and the Institute for Complex Molecular Systems. Working closely with several experimental groups he continues to pursue his interest in the statistical mechanical description of biological molecules and materials.

We're always looking for talented and enthusiastic people to strengthen our group. If you share our interests, please note that at any given time there may be exciting opportunities for you to join the group - either at the undergraduate, Ph.D or postdoctoral level. Contact me if you'd like to find out more!

Currently, there is an opening for a PhD student in my group. Read about it [here].
